"Questions linger" after Connecticut cops shoot man dead in his bed

If the response to someone calling 911 to get an ambulance for someone with a self inflicted gunshot wound is that EMS doesn’t go in until the cops do, and the cops are trained that in this circumstance they should assume the injured person is a threat and should use lethal force, you might as well just tell the caller that no help is coming.

Don’t get me wrong; this is a systemic failing in the US. There should be that expert help on call so that cops aren’t the only ones available. But it’s rarely available even in big cities with multi-billion$ police budgets.

I’d argue that’s not the case in this example. And this example is what the thread is about.

I think in that case you just lie to dispatch and say someone his having a medical issue.
