I had rats that liked Polos, so, maybe?
Did they like the mint or the hole?
That’s less daft than it sounds; anything that shape they would gnaw around until there was the thinnest edge around the hole. So maybe the hole?
What they really liked was the minty taste, they’d lick themselves all over afterwards so they smelled nice.
Man! I want a vending machine rat now.
I think rats have a thing about holes.
When I was in college I knew someone who had a pet rat that they had trained to raid vending machines. They’d open the flap, set the rat down in the hopper, then close it back up. Lil’ buddy would pull down a bunch of snacks to share with his owner, before waiting at the bottom for retrieval. It’s not hard to train a rat with operant conditioning, and cardboard boxes can be made into a simulated vending machine fairly easily.
Unethical? Sure. But it was amazing to watch.
Also, I got free snacks.
Rats and mice can fit though any hole their head can fit through! It’s pretty amazing.
I’m forced to conclude that shrews are just carried by osmotic pressure to areas of higher peanut butter concentration.
Took WAY too long for someone to post a UB40 comment on this.
