Rest in peace, Rip Torn

Or this guy

Seriously. He sacrificed a kid just to demonstrate that he was completely serious about sacrificing the next kid.

Wow, never seen this before. You can tell Mailer is really done taking his shit, can’t you.

Since then, my number one wish in life has been to throw a wrench at Justin Long.

He was the absolute best on Larry Sanders. That show is the reason I kept HBO at the time and have been a subscriber ever since.

Edit. I know it’s not Artie, but this is one of my favorite lines:

Neil Gaiman’s encounter with Rip Torn led to the creation of a notable character:

Torn attacked actor-director Norman Mailer with a tack hammer

I just remembered. Rip Torn played “Scully” in that classic summer movie, “Summer Rental”.

John Candy takes a florida vacation, Scully has a bar/restaurant in a sailing ship, and they put the ship back into operation to race and win against the local landlord, Richard Crenna.

Rop Torn talks like a pirate.

He probably gets that a lot.

Oh gracious… What would happen if Rip Taylor and Klaus Kinski worked on the same film? (For reference, here’s Kinski’s behavior on the set)

I checked, and apparently they never did – although Kinski was considered for the role of Maax (which went to Torn) in Beastmaster.

Which begs the question, were Rip and Rip ever in the same show? Or Rip Taylor and Klaus Kinski?

No, and no. :disappointed_relieved:

Wherever he is, he’s probably hosting an inter-dimensional kegger by now.

From The Man Who Fell To Earth, 1976.

If you haven’t, you should, for both of these performances.
