RIP Burt.
Keep the pedal to the metal and stay 10-10 on the side, good buddy. RIP Bandit!
It’s just weird watching bits of my childhood die. I remember seeing Smoky and the Bandit films in the theater with my parents.
He was still alive? With the National Enquirer killing him off every couple months for years now, I just assumed that he was dead.
No, no. If he had been dead, the Enquirer would have been bringing him back to life every few months.
“Hooper” was my favourite as a kid; fun, stupid stuntman stuff all the way.
Seemed like a nice guy, mostly, he’ll be missed.
Reynolds had an impish – sometimes wicked – sense of humor. Guesting on the Johnny Carson Show, he made a comment about one of the other guests there (whose name I can’t recall, still to be brought out and to be seated alongside him): “He’s a great guy. I know this because he told me so.”
I hear you. I saw so many of his movies in the theater when I was a kid.
I loved it when he did voice work as himself on Archer.
Fun fact: Norm played a character who was the son of a character Burt played in My Name Is Earl
Safe travels, good buddy.
He’s leading the angels on wacky car chases now.
And remarkably, he seemed to steer clear of any #MeToo kind of accusations, despite the atmosphere of the day. Fingers crossed.
Aw man. Time to watch Cannonball Run.
RIP.
Then I don’t suggest rewatching Blazing Saddles anytime soon; it really harshes the fuck out of your mellow, when you realize all the big name stars it featured have passed on, save for Mel Brooks…
Deliverance is my all time favorite movie. No special effects, no CGI, no scary monsters other than human nature and being stressed under survival conditions. I’ve spent a lot of time in the back country and running into other humans who have ill intent would be scarier than just about any situation I can imagine. RIP Burt.
