I do like the simplicity of it, Hopefully the battery life is decent and that whatever related app it uses isn’t obnoxious.
The company Withings used to make a similar product: an analog faced watch that tracked steps called the “Move.”
I loved the minimalist design of the face and the fact that it tracked my steps without any sort of notification BS. Unfortunately, it used disposable batteries, and they weren’t what a person might call “robust.” Withings discontinued it and only offer watches with tiny screens now, but mercifully one can adjust the notifications out of existence.
If my Withings Steel goes out, I’ll likely opt for one of these.
I noticed a smartwatch project that seems Casio-inspired.
I have one of those. Used it for a year or so. It was pretty good, but I wanted to wear a different style watch and never got back to it.
On that style I like a lot what Joey Castillo has been doing with the Casio F-91W: Sensor Watch Pro | Crowd Supply
Latest tests reduced the consumption of the board to almost 18 months on a normal clock battery, and while simpler than the two above (no bluetooth, nor connectivity, and sensors need to be added) it still looks like an awesome project
I like the idea of a limited feature set. I don’t care about steps or health info. I’d like to see one with just phone/text notifications and the ability to control phone audio. I tried one by a company called Njordgear, but it didn’t work properly.
Mandatory “I wish they still made Pebbles” comment.
