Revenge porn shitweasel pleads guilty, admits he hacked victims' accounts

Describing Hunter Moore as a “shitweasel” is an insult to weasels everywhere!

Just weasels? What about other “shitweasels”

Oh I dunno, it’s an innovative business plan, I can think of quite a few people who would congratulate him and possibly draft him for elected office.

Snark aside, this is a pretty big development. I don’t think prior to now, there was even a specter of hacking charges. By and large, it was thought that it actually was just jilted exes and random creeps doing the dirty.

Christ what an asshole.

Not going to far down the rabbit hole in inferring a bit of inbreeding is apparent in that “shitweasel”, and that’s my scientific hypothesis.

“too” in place of “to”

Ha, got there before the spelling police found it!

Nah. I had something similar happen to me in 2007 before it even had a name. And dudes have been fucking over women, and exploiting the sexuality of women, since the dawn of fucking time. Dude is not very innovative. He’s just following the path of other shitweasels before him.

And what about the shitweasels that eat this shit up? This stuff wouldn’t happen if he wasn’t able to make money off of it. It’s not just about this shitweasel.

You obviously have not been keeping up!
The hacking has been known of since 2013 at least.

Sucks that it takes hacking to enter into this for shit to get real. Isn’t running a revenge porn website shitweaselry enough, or in actuality, the more heinous crime going on here?

So these guys were stealing the images that they published without consent rather than having the images voluntarily given to them to publish without consent? It’s like you can’t trust “revenge” pornographers!

Clearly, I haven’t. I’d read about Charlotte Laws, but not that piece where all the hacking stuff was brought to light.

When they are not hacking their own selves.

Yay.

I noticed, though, at least one poster implying that they hope he gets raped in prison, or otherwise applauding that he might. This is symptomatic of rape culture being accepted in mainstream. In a first world culture where there are many advances in the criminal justice system, people still have ways of showing their true colors, such as accepting a prison system where rape is tolerated and even encouraged.

Another poster pointed out that the FBI is very much against hacking. Problem is the US Government is actually very much for hacking. They have hacked everyone, and have fought any self-censorship there. They have not yet agreed to police themselves in a proper manner. (The NSA was asked post-Snowden if they policed themselves, they said, ‘of course, here are twelve cases over sixty years, all people who did very minor things’. Like how cops never had internal affairs departments pre-70s Serpico.)

In fact, one of the worst stories in the past few years has gotten zero traction outside of off-mainstream sites like Vice and Motherboard, Ars, Schneier, and Boingboing… how the FBI used their informant Sabu to get people to hack foreign nations, as well as friendlies (presumably, the later, for some yet explained counterintelligence information dump, as well as for some hoped for plausible deniability.)

Like how some cultures say “boys will be boys” and at the least give a wink-wink at systematic rape by them, the US Government teaches that ‘if you are powerful, that is good because power is the definition of morality – might makes right’. From jailing minorities far worse then majorities to bailing out high level financial criminals… the message is symptomatic and endemic.

This, though, thankfully, is hated in many subcultures in America, though I doubt this issue and the resulting sort of problems will get any manner of mainstream coverage.

Likewise, not all these sorts of issues are being covered much even in less mainstream areas: one major issue arising is teenage girls being targeted online for attempting to get video and pics of them for porn sites.

Prison/jail rape is actually not as common as a lot of people seem to want it to be. It’s just a revenge fantasy, which makes it almost worse.

Yeah, so I have read from some quarters. Specifically, from a cracked article from an ex-prison guard, who pointed out consensual sex was much higher then people thought it was and rape less. (Though his evidence was ancedotal, and based on his having ‘often seen male inmates head bobbing over others’, though giving someone a blowjob does not mean it is consensual even if it is true the person doing so does have the capacity to bite their dick off.)

But, as the prison system is very much broken, kind of plausible that rape happens a lot. Further, guys in general are going to be even more reluctant to want to report that their own selves, and in the context of prison, it is even worse as prison inmates will go very much out of their way to punish any manner of snitching.

So, accurate numbers, no idea. Noticing it is mainstream accepted behavior… that is a given.

I totally understand the tendency, my own self, especially seeing a case like this, but then find reasoning kicking in with the proper level abhorrence.

One problem, perhaps, with having such a civilized society is the conceit that we actually are civilized becomes all the more attractive to believe.

But in reality, that tends to be bolstered by some areas, and entirely absent in others. (For instance, we have many incredible advances in the judicial system and criminal investigative system… yet, we have a system that is blatantly unbalanced against the poor and minorities, for one, amongst many severe problems.)

Agreed! When I read @wrecksdart’s comment “I doubt nude images will be what he finds most objectionable”, with its implicit gloating over the possibility of prison rape, I wanted to say the same thing. Glad you said it. Seems that every single time prison comes up on the internet, someone has to savor the possibility of the person getting raped. Its downright barbaric, and I hope that as a society we can have higher expectations of ourselves and our institutions, even for shitheads like this.

Are there even any statistics on what percentage of people want prisoners to be raped? I mean, we already have more than 200,000 inmates a year being raped, the idea that people want more raped is very disturbing.

Implicit gloating over the possibility of prison rape? Not sure that’s what I wrote. To me, prison=everyday potential for violence, which is bad enough. But then, I’m also petty, vindictive, and vengeful, so if he does get raped in prison, maybe someone can videotape it and release it to 4chan or whatever revenge porn sites will have it.
