You win the internet today for the deathtöngue ref!
I love these posts because I get to pimp my favorite perl module of all time:
Lingua Romana Perligata module makes it makes it possible to write Perl programs in Latin.
why write code like:
$next = pos $string;
when instead you can author:
nexto stringum reperimentum da
?
Would be interesting to also have code or data that relates to the actual music of a power ballad (riffs, chords, beats, etc)
My f’n hero.
I actually liked Billy and Boingers.
To be fair, whenever I see ‘rock start programmers’ I know to skip these people because they are a bunch of clowns. Not fun face panted stick 23 in beetle clowns, but sad ones that mope about. Don’t work for sad clowns
Because Perl was still too easy to understand for some i guess.
Ooh, there’s a crazy idea: hypothetically readable perl!
Anthem - Rockstar Browser Framework (coming soon)
Ook!
You will have to compete against Opera, the framework coming out two weeks later that is longwinded and boring, but somehow surprisingly popular.
I hear the variable naming constraints include some pretty brutal minimum vowel counts…
Änd yöü’d bëttër rëmëmbër thë këy cömbïnätïöns för typïng ümläüts…
Yay, Germans! They have a smiley ü in their alphabet.
This gives, as they say, good demo – at first glance, the (contrived) example does look like executable AOR – but as you read it with programming glasses, it almost instantly morphs into regular old code, which has its own distinctive cadence, and the “rock” affectation just underscores that it’s the cadence of an autistic person explaining a movie plot, and not a rock star.
Which I suppose is a success in this case. It’s like a self-aware version of AppleScript’s syntax.
So has anyone tried feeding all of the world’s pop music lyrics into this compiler to see if anything already compiles? Maybe that’s where the singularity is lurking. Hopefully within “We’re Not Gonna Take It” by Twisted Sister or something equally inane.
Avoid Nickelback, though… Even written in Rockstar, Skynet isn’t fun.
I like it, and it’s a good alternative to Verbasizer until the Bowie Estate decides to release it.
