That’s exactly why newspaper site comments are worse. YouTube comments are, if not algorithmic, little more than “LOL FART POOP JEWS HH,” like someone banging on some specialized macro keys. The newspaper commenters sound like they really mean the shit they say — it’s not well thought out or cogently argued, but it’s mostly sentences, sort of. Someone put what mental capacity they have towards the task.

Trollfights = page views, innit? They’ve got no incentive to employ moderators. Plus, they’d have to pay them, which they’re presumably loath to do.
