The Eugenic Wars and the genetically enhanced supermen sounds fucking horrific, and I simply don’t have enough faith that humanity would actually end up as well it did in the series.

Bone marrow transplants are heavy, heavy stuff. I’ve watched a neighbour go through it. The side effects are tremendous; having a different blood group afterwards is the only funny bit about it.
But, he is one of the lucky few who made it - four years and counting, and able to live a reasonable normal life, considering.
