This is the same as Tone Matrix, except this one is compressed into a smaller pitch range and uses [in terms of moveable do] la, do, re and mi instead of sol, la, do, re and mi. Real life barred/Orff instruments, when you strategically remove some of the bars, create a similar little walled garden inside which there’s no such thing as a “wrong note”.

I like the non-pitched rows too. When I first encountered Tone Matrix years and years ago it had two rows of non-pitched percussion along the bottom of the grid, as well as a way to change the tempo. In any case, it’s brilliant. I would love to know who originally came up with it.
