I heard the Fresh Air interview this past week. Jill Lepore is a national treasure.
She was totally unknown to me til now; I read that article which clicked a lot in my head: basically algorithms to foresee voters reactions to political news, speeches, etc. then find the right means to create consent, were thought and implemented on old computers since the late 50s. Woah! Looks like the Cambridge Analytica scandal is just history repeating itself. Her “This America” seems also an interesting book to read.
