I once nearly got tossed out of a grad class for commenting on an article by Duchamp regarding some-decades retrospective of Dada, which he waxed a bit self-important. I commented on the irony of Dada, itself’s, tenets versus the ego of the artist.
That’s the problem with being a Dada-ist: you can’t retire to being a grandee of the established art hierarchy without someone tweaking your nose occasionally.
