Sounds like something from David Brin’s Uplift Universe series.

Your tutor wouldn’t be the first art instructor to steal finished works from students (even if they paid for their own materials). Makes you wonder what they’re really doing with the stuff.

The shoes look nifty but are out of my price range. Also, I was wondering just why a dog would need shoes in space…
