Isn’t it just corporate espionage and the company’s problem if they want to protect their future profits?

In a statement, Britain’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) said the hackers had targeted pharmaceutical companies, research organisations and local governments.

But, they don’t provide any details of how it is affecting the health system directly apart from the pharmaceutical companies.
It sounds that at most it is the same desire to get as much data about as much people as possible, but the local government policies and policies, which should be public anyway, seems to be mixed together just to make it looks like it is not some specific companies being attacked.

The U.S., Russia, and China (and presumably several other countries) all have well-developed biological weapons research facilities. Of course the U.S. has always said theirs is purely for defensive purposes so that they can determine how to stop an attack. Regardless, knowing how a country actually responds to health catastrophes is a key part of planning for biological attacks (either offensive or defensive)

Good thing we don’t have a silo of easily de-anonymised contact tracing data.

Surprise surprise! Hostile states are hacking coronavirus vaccine research, warn UK and USA intelligence

Britain and the United States said on Tuesday in a joint warning that government-backed hackers are attacking healthcare and research institutions with the goal of stealing valuable information about the response to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Wait, aren’t they just talking about Trump and his “administration”?

“Hackers are attempting to collect bulk personal information,” says government that routinely collects bulk personal information.
