You’re right. If he REALLY cared about his African heritage he shouldn’t have had his ancestors kidnapped by slavers!
He’s an attention-seeker and thinks he knows “his kind”? Psychological projection? Who knows.
The hilariously pathetic thing here is that dress IS speech, speech you are coincidentally a selective champion of when the speech fits your values and what does not.
Free speech doesn’t need such a cowardly savior, who is totally okay with promoting racist narratives, but statements on history and ancestry? Oh yeah, that can be censored. ~shrugs~
FWIW, skorts these days are usually skirts on the outside, shorts on the inside. So they look like skirts all the way around, not shorts.
No, see, it’s only a problem when you curb the speech of AUTHORITY, not everyone else. /s
Was there a dress code?
Yes (I’m making an assumption here, but i think it’s a safe one)
Was it the same dress code, regardless of race?
Yes (otherwise I’m certain that that would be the story instead)
Did the person in question flout the dress code, despite being asked not to?
Yes.
No racism here.
Also, your collapse to ad-hominem and poor sarcasm is quite telling.
Were LEOs called in to deal with this problem?
Yes.
Was that an extreme response on the part of school authorities?
Yes.
Is it much more likely that this extreme response happened because this kid is black?
Yes.
Very likely racism here.
Also, your overlooking of this aspect of the situation is quite telling.
Careful, your projection is showing
So are you saying that there is literally NO argument you will accept that this is not racism? Nothing that can be said to you that will make you consider for one second that this is simply a case of any student who breaks the rules will be escorted out of the ceremony? The only possible explanation is that the entire administration are evil racists who have it out for black people? thats the only thing that makes sense in your mind?
IF this is a repeated pattern of behaviour where the administration have been singling out black kids and punishing them for petty offenses AND letting off the white kids, then yes. you have a point. Until I see even a scrap of evidence that this is the case, they get the benefit of my doubt.
You need to read the story and the comments in this thread. Your questions have been asked and answered several times.
“This topic will automatically close in a day.”
One more day.
Read the story. Nothing there says he was being discriminated against for his race, only that he broke the dress code.
Unless the student or the school have commented in this thread, I don’t really see why the comments here are relevant to the facts as I have understood them.
Yeah, that’s part of the reason you’re failing to recognize your racism and white privilege.
He broke the dress code. How is this a racism based issue? Explain that to me. educate me. Dont just say “Psh man! you just don’t UNDERSTAND”
That was when I worked on IE, actually.
They really haven’t. Please, link me to the bit where white students were allowed to flout the dress code.
