Thanks for the chart. It doesn’t agree with the stats I saw.
I think debt relief in some situations is good. For poor countries, it makes absolute sense. For student loans, I’m dubious. That’s the argument I want to hear. The closest I’ve heard is that Wall Street got bailed out. But I think that was a bad idea too.
I totally think the system is broken and encourages corruption. I do not support it. I just believe debt forgiveness further encourages it. But as part of a wider set of policies that shares the pain, it might be feasible.
I do not think this is just a problem for the poor. My understanding is that the middle class is affected even more. I do think debt is a problem. Something needs to be done to improve it. But my original point is still that I have personal feelings about individuals, not a class, not a group, but individuals that make a decision then want to be bailed out. I’m fine with anyone disagreeing. But for some reason several people want to switch to attacking my character. That seems a piss poor way of persuading someone. It makes me question their veracity.
I’ve enjoyed the responses of several people who chose to be constructive. Even strongly disagreeing and possibly hostile, they were constructive. I keep holding out the hope you can do the same.
