I recently watched a short documentary about why there are so many of those “____ but in the style of Wes Anderson” videos.

Thing is, Succession already kinda is The Royal Tenenbaums if it were directed by Brian Cox.

Um, no. Especially during the writer’s strike, when we’re trying to remember that there are, in fact, writers, and that they’re important, shouldn’t you have said, “Succession already kinda is The Royal Tenenbaums if it were written by Jesse Armstrong.”

The actors don’t make up the words. And even in improv-heavy shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm, when the actors do make up some of the words, they don’t make up the story. I recommend you look up a Curb script (yes, there are scripts). They don’t have dialog, but they are densely written and all the story choices are made by Larry David.

Yeah and Cox didn’t direct any episodes, either, so that’s an odd comment. Cox has 1 directing credit, for one episode of the tv series Oz in 2000.
