So we have at least two “supreme” court justices whose spouses openly supported the insurrection. Lovely. I guess when you make sombody completely unaccountable, and subject to nothing but voluntary ethics standards, this is the type of people you get.
That’s clearly part of the problem. There’s more restrictions on the rest of the federal bureaucracy than on the Justices.
Trump won’t.
MAGA daddy has claimed for 4 years “I won.” “stolen wlection.” “fraudulent election,” “rigged election”.
Won’t what? Follow the Constitution and the rule of law? You’re probably right, but that doesn’t make it ok for Biden to do likewise.

Dems play to lose, every time. Somehow they worry too much about what the GOP will think, instead of acting. You’d never, ever, EVER see a sentence like, “We need enough Republicans willing to get rid of the filibuster, which is unlikely.” If it means winning, it wouldn’t even matter that just before the vote every Republican stood up and denounced ending the filibuster — it would still happen.
If the Democrats tossed aside the Constitution under the rationale that the Republicans would do the same in their shoes then the Democrats would no longer deserve to win.
It’s not about “what the GOP will think.” It’s about clinging on to the original concept “a Government of Laws, not of Men.” If we can’t do that then we’ve already lost.
Defeatist nonsense. Dems can’t do shit right now. November can change that. Vote like your life depends on it. For too many of my family and friends, it does.
And yet, it hasn’t. Republicans have had majorities in the Senate. They don’t want to get rid of the filibuster, either. Also, the Republican caucus in the House right now is a complete shit show. They’ve had a majority the last two years but can’t get anything done unless they enlist the help of Democrats, which has cost one Speaker his job, and threatened his replacement, who was only saved because Democrats saved him. This “Dems play to lose” and Republicans are political masterminds is complete nonsense. It’s not true.
You’ll note I didn’t say anything about tossing aside the Constitution. I addressed the fact that Dems can’t even get their act together enough to vote as a bloc to do something, ANYTHING.
I didn’t say that the Republicans wanted to get rid of the filibuster. I said that if getting rid of the filibuster was what it took to win, the Republicans to a person would vote for it, even if they swore up and down that they wouldn’t.
You were specifically responding to the stated question of whether Biden should toss aside the Constitution and the rule of law just because the Republicans are likely to. Even quoted that part of the comment you were responding to.
Besides, the Democrats are demonstrably much better at “getting their shit together enough to vote as a bloc to do something” than the Republicans are at the moment. That’s why the Republican Speaker of the House had to cross the aisle to work with Democrats just to keep the government running even though his party controls the House—the Republican party is such a shitshow that he couldn’t even cut a deal with the various wings of his own party.
good
on one hand, i respect the decorum rules we have here but… if someone makes an ideology out of basically being a bully, it’s a form of emotional terrorism to then cry about their feelings being hurt by the rightful response
folks should count their lucky stars when the responses are artistic instead of physical, rather than sully the word “victim” by applying the label to themselves
Regardless of the issue, I expected them to have a less ugly house. Vinyl siding? Really?
He’s not getting greased as much as Thomas is.
