Survey: 89% of Android users didn’t give Facebook consent

It was 89% of users who answered a poll in a competing, anonymous social media app called Blind. That’s hardly the same thing as 89% of Android users.

Sure, I would have answered “no” as well. Still, reporting the truth is important.

I often wonder about this. Whatever they may know they’re going to try to hide from you the best they can. Gracchus’ link above about the

is a good place to start.

I reckon, with the magic of AI, facebook could deduce a great deal about you. Facebook scans all photographs for faces, so if you’re in a group photo with facebook-membered friends/family, the AI may link your phone number to that face with a certain level of confidence. That level of confidence is going to increase with increasing photos uploaded by your friends/family. And for whatever reason, some folks insist on putting a first and last name + picture on even their most familiar contacts.
Except in the remotest regions of the world, I’m pretty sure FB could identify anyone’s face, no matter whether they ever had an account.

Have a unusual nickname? Users casually name-dropping you in posts or comments is going to link you to their activities. Maybe not with 100% confidence, but it will get there soon enough.

I’m not saying this is going on now, but the foundation is established.

Any complex app tends to pile on permissions just to function, but damn!

Yeah, exactly - they’re not going to go out of their way provide a historical record of their TOS, and companies frequently change their TOSes and expect them to apply retroactively when it suits them. Which is utter nonsense, but they seem to get away with it.
