Should we maybe also clear the down?

Sorry/not sorry, I had to do it.

That was 4 minutes that you will never get back.

Good explainer, but Ciccariello-Maher’s definition of “resistance” is too limiting. He’s correct that punditry in corporate news outlets and comments on BBS aren’t resistance, and is correct that movements are important. However, he leaves no room for everyday acts of resistance by individuals, from quiet and sometimes hidden sabatoge of the regime’s machinery to restaurant patrons loudly heckling scumbags like Stephen Miller until they’re forced to leave.

The young people this article is aimed at, young people who often have no access to local chapters of these movements, need to understand that (as long as they’re not endangering themselves) directly confronting and exposing those who would excuse or defend or are themselves bigots, sexists, xenophobes, fascists is a valuable step in making sure that their views aren’t normalised.

It’s one of the minor but poignant bits of weirdness in this timeline that Teen Vogue, of all things, is publishing material like this. Tell it to someone from ten years ago, and you’d be laughed at.

Buzzfeed, Teen Vogue, TMZ, not exactly what we are used to for news sources, it is? And yet, here we are.

Just goes to show, journalism like government and everything else is done by the people who show up ready to roll their sleeves up.

That’s what happens when outlets like the NYT and CNN constantly engage in bothsidesism (except when it comes to supporting political and economic and military establishment consensus).

Sadly, that right there is the truth.

It’s a side effect of living in the dumbest timeline.

As long as someone is still willing to do actual critical reporting, (and not a facade of being ‘fair & open minded’ or outright propaganda) I’ll give them credit for it.

Gender tag? Is this “Rebellion for Girls?”

Ciccariello is a supporter of military dictatorships. Maybe not the best reference when it comes to “Rebellion” and “Resistance”

Coming up soon: Teen Vogue on Camus.

It’ll be de Beauvoir after that.

Maybe there is hope.
