The Fall of the Damned: a painting that will make your bad day feel less bad

HELL, California – a town I recall seeing on old maps.
HELL: Standing atop a Los Angeles-area freeway onramp, unable to see the highway below because thick brown smog.
HELL: Gas-station sign with the first character burnt out.
HELL: Friendly greeting with the final character missing.
HELL: Forced to listen to a political speech.
HELL: Religious version of HECK.

Imagine if this painting came to life…

The fishwolf on the bottom right looks reasonably scritchable; at least if he’s not devouring your head at the time.

Like a normal wolf, right?

In the US, the left cheer themselves up by imagining better things for others, especially those less fortunate. The right go the opposite direction, like Desantis sending migrants in need to other states so they can suffer there out of sight. It can be quite the striking dichotomy, that.

I don’t, but a lot of the founders and early scholars of the catholic church sure did, and many other theologians since.

Such images of a few sufferers are IMHO more graphic but less frightful than pics of Noah’s flood which reportedly exterminated most of Earth’s surface life and all but a dozen or so humans.
