“In that I have no values and my behavior will be atrocious. As always.”
“Those lefties, always calling people fascists just because they walk and talk like fascists.” /s
So many threads this could go into:
…is intimately, innately tied to the project of eugenics and let me just say: Welcome to the conversation.
I’m sure they killed something.
Or rather: someone.
And finally a government response: “Sorry, only Doug’s friends can do stuff like that.”
Good that she got fired.
non-paywall version:
Basically argues that Whelan would have been a more “worthy” trade for Bout, and that the ONLY reason they got her instead of prioritizing Whelan was because of the pressure from progressives… which is just flat bullshit. I think that’s the ONLY thing the Russians would go for… But sure… some random journalist knows better than the actual diplomats who worked to get anything to happen here in the midst of a war while we support the country that Russia invaded…
Black lesbians have all the advantages.
He even ends it with admonishing her that she should now stand up for the national anthem at games…
Someone needs to put that quote on a placard and follow her around with it…
Releasing Whelan in a prisoner swap was never on the table. This is why Russia only offered Whelan for a Russian prisoner in Germany. They full well know the US won’t pressure Germany to release a murderer. Putin is purposely doing this to foster discontent.
And it’s working.
They claim that they are the ones who are super-smart and able to deal with people like Putin, but either they fall for his shit every time, or they are on his side… Could be both!
It probably doesn’t hurt his efforts that there’s a fifth column taking his instructions, which controls a large slab of media and one of the two political parties.
(Not to mention the tankies and the both-sides-ists.)
My understanding is that Russia insisted the U.S. would have to formally admit that Whelan was a spy for them to even consider trading him.
That’s a bridge too far.
Could be… sounds plausible… But then again, why would you get a disgraced Marine to be a spy…
I read an article about some of the local activists who campaigned for her 4 years ago and who now feel so betrayed. It got me wondering how you would trust another candidate after that.
Great cover story.
