I think of it more as a Yiddish word, at least in terms of how it’s used in English.

I’ve always used it. The guy gave me his spiel but I wasn’t buying it.

I looked it up thinking maybe I just picked it up listening to my dad, the definition is what I thought but I still probablly picked it up listening to old relatives that were not born here, long since passed.
