Only read this if you’ve already solved this one:
Is it just me or is this a poor choice of words? Without the diacritics on the e this isn’t a word. And diacritics aren’t optional. You can’t just leave them off like this.

Yep. Here’s mine and I initially thought the same. I went for sauce after pause, which got me to the answer.

Had a sinking feeling that the lower left was going to be BIDON, in the spirit of French words made English. Fortunately, I remembered that BISON was a word.

question about octordle strategy: when do y’all pull the trigger on entering the words you’ve figured out? i feel like i keep getting to the third turn knowing half or more but only having one in. twice in a row i took too long to figure out the last word and missed by one turn filling out the rest. the layout is kinda tough to parse for me as well, and i don’t always realize which words ive already entered

For me I do my three usual starting words then start to plug in answers.
I think Octurdle has crossed over the threshold dividing fun from work. I just find it to be a chore.

Once I realized that starting with 4 words covering 20 of the 26 letters of the alphabet was enough to plug and play for the remaining lines, it became, as @anon87143080 said, a chore. I stopped as well. Quordle seems to be the right level of some strategy but then you have to figure it out.

I hadn’t played Octordle in a while. I was going to say that my main complaint with it is that there isn’t enough space between the two columns, plus all the vertical scrolling. But I just went there and saw a new option for widescreen mode (on my laptop I had to be at 90% zoom or less to see that option—any higher and the option/button to do that disappeared) and I like that much better! No scrolling. It’s all there in front of you 
And there’s a little more space between the columns! Though I still found it to be a little eye-boggling overall, I liked it better.

That LL in Quordle was a kicker, wasn’t it? I only had the u and the y, and there were just SO many options, even having eliminated a bunch of letters already.

Yeah, I had the b and the y and u was my only vowel option left, but I still had several words that would have fit.
