Well, with all the typos in my spoiler, I’m thinking I should wait until I’ve had my coffee.
Today’s Wordle got me wondering what’s next – plurals?
I haven’t been playing Croword lately but just did and I think it’s my best ever:
Croword 2022-04-27
Score: 5
Uugh.
Wordle 313 5/6
OMG. I was showing “Redactle” to my husband and it was a different topic from this morning. I now know what you mean. I solved less than 0.25% of the Wiki article and I was thinking how insane it is.
Whelp, it had to happen sometime…
Wordle 313 X/6
I’d thought about including a Y, but dismissed the idea. Big mistake. Oh well.

Oh my goodness. First two guesses, nothing but gray!
Wordle 313 6/6
Phew.
Quordle went a little better:
Daily Quordle 94
I started out well, then…
Wordle 313 X/6
Daily Quordle 94
Octordle did not go well today.
Daily Octordle #94
Wordle 313 3/6
brag incoming: did it in 3 and hard mode.
Now when I do Spelling Bee, I catch myself searching mostly for five-letter words!
In a few years, someone can do a research project to see if the popularity of Wordle might correlate with a noticeable spike in the proportion of five-letter words used in published writing.
I had kind of dropped Spelling Bee for a while there, but now I think I should keep it up, lol.
My waffling:

And wordling:
Wordle 313 4/6
(PIERS → SMITE → LEAST → ZEST)
That last one was a sudden and luckily inspired guess.
In another group, I’d gotten the heads-up that something was difficult about today’s Wordle, so I thought I’d be smart and start off with my #3 and then #2 words for Quordle, where I’m purposely trying to tick off every letter possible. Boy, did that backfire!
Wordle 313 5/6
Holy crap, this game seems impossible to me. I’m on guess 60, have revealed a dozen words, and still am not close to figuring out today’s. And the words I’ve revealed even indicate this is something I should be familiar with.
Is there an “I give up” button?
(Also, it’s a little tricky on mobile. I can never see my keyboard and the input box at the same time, and sometimes the word in the box disappears.)
Edit: It doesn’t seem to let me go on past 135 guesses. Or, I can’t really tell if it’s broken, it just swallows my input. Possibly the creator never expected someone to make 135 guesses? Am I just an idiot and missing something?
I love spelling bee. Made it to Queen Bee today! (I did use the grid to get the last 3 words, but still.)
(Gasp!) You’re…you’re seeing other wordle groups?!?
Today I needed the grid for the last 6 words to QB.
(They allowed Walkout but not Outwalk?!? Hummph. Oh well, by now I’m well aware that the Spelling Bee editor is known for being arbitrary. )
I failed because I wasn’t thinking Oh Canada. Waffle was Canadian themed today. And now I want waffles.

One of my favorite stories from that game is how Will Shortz was sent a box of raffia by a disgruntled player when that word wasn’t included, and he was befuddled, bc he’s not the editor for that puzzle Then they set up the email.
I’ve used it once. Couldn’t believe that he didn’t include “midden.” NYC, home to countless squirrels, but no midden on spelling bee? C’mon. I even included pictures.

Oh dear, that has a bit of the flavor of “Any comment pointing out a typo will itself contain a typo”, doesn’t it? (I mean sending it to the wrong editor).
Oh, interesting, I was more familiar with it in the archaeological sense, and didn’t really think about rodents. I should use the email sometime. It’s unbelievable how many times there’s some perfectly valid word they could include and don’t. I wonder how many people they hear from. My sibling gets frustrated that they miss a lot of food and cooking-related words.
Go, ClutchLinkey!!
