I happened across a very good exhibit last week at the downtown Seattle Public Library about the store and the book. It’s up until March 26th. Recommended. Meet Me at Higo: An Enduring Story of a Japanese American Family | The Seattle Public Library

My grandfather took over several farms in the San Joaquin Valley. He paid $5 each, found tenants or managed them with the help of his family during the war, banking the profits. At the end of the war he sold them back for $5 and handed over the profits.

My uncle, his only son, was furious - he had planned on inheriting them.
