To be fair, I used it ironically. I’d never employ a term like that in any sort of seriousness. I promise! I do think men are more than the sum of the genitals, frankly.
Why shouldn’t we just say “Good evening, human people!”

Ah, but you understand that Venn diagram isn’t mutually exclusive (think Reek from GoT (mouth vomit))
I didn’t think you were! It seemed all in good spirit to me.
I think Reek is precluded from having a good evening
Oh good - I’m glad we can disagree and be cordial! Have a gif!
Endemic to penises shut in closet doors.
Lisa: Well, it exploits men by exploiting women.
Clark: Hence, it exploits people.
Maxxx Orbison: [pissed off] SHUT UP!
(I am on FIRE today)
Thanks!
Use it wisely!
So, we came to the conclusion that while objectification in GoT for women is orders of magnitude worse than men, the sexuality portrayed can still be enjoyed by reasonable people by immediately filtering the objectification?
Is that a conclusion?
If so, who wants a shwarma?
Yum!
Possibly a different audience for the nudie amped up LOTR series on alternate world HBO (or maybe Showtime). However always be careful of Rule 34. Totallly not linking nor searching for any of that stuff.
If you’re familiar with In the Realm of the Senses you’ll know those two categories are mutually exclusive.
WHOOOPS too late. Different point of reference, though.
And it didn’t help that that scene was not directed particularly well, and certainly came off more rapey than was intended. I don’t labor under the misapprehension that absolutely everyone in a creative position on the show has the healthiest of attitudes about these issues, but rather feel (in a disappointed way) that the show is pretty representative of what HBO-level Hollywood is capable of delivering, given the source material. Could be that Benioff and Weiss have unimpeachable sociopolitical sensibilities, for all I know… and yet there is some executive over there, advocating for the “perv” viewpoint. I don’t think Neil Marshall would have made that up.
Order of magnitude different. Women’s breasts are not just titillating, they are erotic in our society, where men’s chests are not, despite still being an erogenous zone in the literature.
Why they are more erotic than men’s nipples is probably a very complex phenomenon indeed, but it’s likely mostly because Men really enjoy looking at them. (…But why do men enjoy looking at them? There’s a lot of crazy ideas from evolutionary psychologists, but the most common seems to be that it’s a signifier of fertility and/or the ability to rear children. Compare to men’s chests as a signifier of… being able to do a lot of pushups.)
I’ve often wondered just why we sexualize mostly dormant milk bags. I think it’s mostly because 1. women have them and men don’t, and 2. they’re covered up most of the time – so it’s exciting, even naughty, to see them uncovered.
