The naked hypocrisy of Game Of Thrones’ nudity

I saw him the first time. That’s one example. Let all who want more male nudity voice their desire.

S’okay, I give you a mansplaining feminist pass, this time!!! Don’t let it happen again!

Hm… to each her own, I suppose.

I wasn’t saying anything with the observation that gratuitous nudity implies that the show is for people to masturbate to that the dude in the article who called for more nudity to appease the “perv audience” didn’t already say.

And while it’s not a problem to make things for people to masturbate to, it IS a problem if you then claim not to be pornography. I wonder how many of the actors on GoT imagine they’re performing pornogrpahy…

I agree, but since everybody gets to complain, is complaining about complaining and complaining about complaining about complaining just part of the process, or a distraction from the process? It all seems to go around and around in repetitive ways.

What has that got to do with this discussion? Since none of that has happened (as far as I can see)?

If you’re referring to the “pervert” comment – remember, that comes from a producer at HBO.

If you are referring to something else, I am confused.

How do I earn more pass cards? Is it more like derivatives trading, Bart tickets, community service, or highway robbery?

Here is what Siede says

“But Game Of Thrones could change all that if it were to simply stop encouraging its creators to appeal to perverts (a difficult request, I know). The show could easily move away from these women-as-props scenes without sacrificing any quality, and fans are devoted enough that it’s hard to imagine the shift impacting the show’s popularity either.”

It doesn’t matter who else has said the word pervert, she is saying it and more importantly she is defining her arguments under the same conditions, see the idea that men should be insulted at the appearance of nudity. If she doesn’t mean the word pervert then she shouldn’t be using it. There’s no ironic context in her statement there, there’s just the word pervert.

Agreed on that. Sometimes i feel these conversations are getting anywhere. It’s especially frustrating on more critical issues, where the concerns of women and minorities are consistently shut down as being anti-man, reverse racist, or what have you.

You know, I just don’t like your attitude, Mr. Man

Ok fine, I’m a woman, I like it when the nudity is more spread out if it’s going to be there. In some contexts I do like alot of nudity but not necessarily in Game of Thrones. But more fair makes it better.

Where I personally go when specifically seeking titillation is more often guy on guy anime.

I’m also attracted to women but I never really have to go looking for female centric titillation b/c it’s already everywhere.

I am only titilated by Dame Judy Dench, Maggie Smith, Tilda Swindon, and Queen Elizabeth the Frist.

She also quotes this… straight from the horses’ mouth:

This particular exec took me to the side and said ‘I represent the pervert side of the audience. Everybody else is on the serious drama side. I represent the perv side of the audience. And I’m saying I want full frontal nudity in this scene. So go ahead and do it.’

Cate Blanchett and Quentin Crisp are upset for being missed off this list.

And no Miranda Richardson???

Here is what Siede wrote to quote:

But am I just prudishly blowing this issue out of the water? In an interview with the Empire Podcast about the 2012 episode “Blackwater,” director Neil Marshall was directly asked about the nudity in his episode and he had this to say:

It was pretty surreal. I’ve not done anything like that in my films
before. The weirdest part was when you have one of the executive
producers leaning over your shoulders going, ‘You can go full frontal,
you know! This is television, you can do whatever you want. And do it. I
urge you to do it’…This particular exec took me to the side and said ‘I
represent the pervert side of the audience. Everybody else is on the
serious drama side. I represent the perv side of the audience. And I’m
saying I want full frontal nudity in this scene. So go ahead and do it.’

She is very clearly referencing terms allegedly used by an HBO exec to refer to its target demographic. To assert otherwise is not supported textually.
