The Ongoing Gallery of Trump-Inspired Assholes

I agree it’s first of all a stunt. I also think it’s something that should not only be watched very closely, but ideally be shot down before it takes off, so to speak.
The funding is barely large enough to hire a couple of people to stir up shit - but that is a) bad enough and b) assuming the official budget is the only source of money that goes into this.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if an anonymous, wealthy donor or two decided to kick in enough to make them truly dangerous. The brown shirts could have sponsor patches like NASCAR and General DeSantis would promote it as a shining example of “public-private partnership.”

The author takes some weird positions.

In other words, conservative elites, not unlike their progressive counterparts, are too weird to lead their revolution by democratic means.

The Young Nazis vs progressives who want universal healthcare? A strange both sides argument.

Josh Hawley says awful, toxic things about what men should be, but liberals don’t offer much that most men find any more appealing.

Men and boys need good jobs, affordable access to team sports, an education system sensitive to their social and emotional development, public parks, mental health support, access to substance abuse treatment and paternity leave. All of this requires public funding, which is far more likely to come from the left than the right.

In their zeal to get rid of all these ideals for girls and women (Title IX, etc.), the Republicans have actually taken them away from boys and men too. Now we’re all in the same boat!

Replace “men and boys” with “people” and “paternal leave “ with “parental leave” and you have full overlap with the Dem platform. It’s a subset, but it’s fully contained within it.

The author was so close to an epiphany. So close.

What now? Isn’t that a bit of a stereotype? And do women not need that?

Are you kidding? Between making babies and sammiches, they got no time for such things! And the young girls need to be kept away from that to preserve their purity, and give them time to master sammich making! (/s, just for clarity)

I think Featherstone would reply with something like “Of course they do, and I never said they don’t. But this article is about, you know, men and boys.” I think she’s emphasizing team sports as one way to counter the common social emphasis for men and boys on staunch individualism.

Meadows’ about-face is due in part to learning over the weekend that the committee had “issued wide ranging subpoenas for information from a third party communications provider,” the letter notes.

This, exactly. He has to recalibrate what lies he can get away with, or just cave and take the 5th.
