The only thing more repulsive than the bully is his arse-licking toady.

Whatever kompromat Biff and his friends in the Kremlin collected regarding Graham’s adventures with DC rentboys, it appears it wasn’t needed to turn him. The price of making him your henchman in the dismantling of liberal democracy turns out to be a bunch of free meals and rounds of golf and telling him what a big important man he is. Pathetic.

McCarthy is just a corrupt and cowardly dumb-dumb. Easy pickings.

You know, maybe the way to fix the lack of teachers is not to lower standards, but give them better pay, deal with school shootings, and stop treating teachers like the enemy.

Hate to link a NY Times article, but this one was about those wacky Libertarians in NH who are up to no good again. They wanted to cut the school budget in half because student assessment scores have not improved. Also, it’s a warning about not taking the time to exercise your right to vote.

FWIW – IIRC this was (sort of) already the case in TX (and more specifically, Austin schools). One could become a substitute teacher with a certain number of semester hours (60? 90?) under their belt. Someone I knew did this while still an undergrad. (This was 30+ years ago so who knows which way & how much the standard moved since then)

A substitute isn’t a full time teacher. I’m less worried about that one.

True, hence “sort of”. Hopefully they still have something more than holding a mirror under the candidate’s nose…

CA had the same requirements up to the mid to late 80s. They changed the requirements to four-year degree and passing the fairly easy CBEST test, along with a background check. Also, emergency credentials limit substitute teachers to no more than 30 consecutive days in one classroom. Anything more requires a fully credentialed teacher.

The main issue is schools that have too many emergency credentialed teachers will be considered poor proforming from accreditation standards. (I believe AZ is part of WASC.) This can impact property values, but most importantly it can have an adverse effect in college acceptances from colleges outside of AZ. My guess is that Ducey will also sign an executive order mandating that all public and private AZ universities must accept students from schools with poor WASC accreditation scores.

McMahon previously told The Gazette that she received complaints about children’s books on display, including “Joey,” written by first lady Jill Biden, and “Superheroes Are Everywhere” by Vice President Kamala Harris. She said some residents argued the library should have more books about former Republican President Donald Trump on display.

“I can’t buy what doesn’t exist, and there weren’t quality books about Trump. It’s a long process to choose materials typically. We pay attention to reviews and publishers and our collection needs as a whole. We don’t just say what looks good on Amazon,” she told The Gazette last month.
