VR in this is gonna make me hurl.

I felt kinda nauseous just watching the video!
It’s hard to find a comparison for what this effect feels like, but I think the closest sensation I can come up with is like when you’re on a roller-coaster that flips you upside-down, so you have a view along the ground, but with your feet up in the air… ulghh :nauseated_face:

Note: The free-flight can tax an older machine with thermal throttling, DPC latency or slow wi-fi issues. This Nil geometry fly around of the Earth in space seems to run smoothest.

Very nice. I’m not surprised that Henry Segerman is involved; he’s done a lot of visualization/outreach stuff in geometry in the last few years.

I’ll have to track it down, but I remember reading an Isaac Asimov essay as a kid where he described the view from various planets and I think it was Venus’ thick atmosphere creating intense light refraction that caused him to postulate a similar effect as seen in this video. Fantastic to see this demo, but alas, the Venera probes didn’t show the described effect.
