I actually enjoy coffee-chicory blends (like Cafe du Monde’s, a famous New Orleans cafe) purely on a taste level. But I think the mixture they use isn’t majority chicory.
Postum is a coffee substitute that some people (my weird dad) enjoy at times. Burnt wheat germ and molasses, marketed by Kellogg, who hated joy. Chicory is an easily sourced wild plant, distinctive flower.
