I keep finding myself liking snippets of young Churchill. On the debate on Home Rule for NI, he proposed Home Rule For All - a federal UK with regions approx the size of NI. (So a Virginia of population.)
Or base it on Scotland, and we’re looking at approx a Colorado of population per state.
Quite a few bits of England are pro-devolution. Cornwall, (Wyoming comparison) makes noises about getting some freedom from Westminster, and cash for the preservation of their language.
It’s very fringe, but there’s some grumbling in Yorkshire about having a similar population to Scotland, but far less self-determination.
(The other bit of young Churchill I admire is him calling it shameful that any of His Majesty’s subjects should receive less than a living wage. Otherwise, not the nicest of people.)
