It’s quite possible. But what matters is that in the end, he finally decided firmly upon aluminum as the name he wanted to use.
Imagine if we held other people to their first drafts in naming things! Suppose it was found out that Tolkien very early on, perhaps only tangentially related to the story that he would eventually write, originally conceived of the character that would become Bilbo Baggins as “Borgo Boffins”, and once this fact was publicly known, people started insisting on calling Bilbo that instead of his proper name. It’d be absurd.
