I took something like fourteen short-haul flights last year because of the way airline hubs are set up. My mid-sized city is 600km away from a very large city, so I can’t go anywhere without at least one short hop. We do have an occasionally reliable train, though, and it only takes 6-8 hours to get me to the hub airport.
I wish North America did just about everything better.

SNCF’s branding is incredibly strong. I’ve always liked the little tune that plays before announcements - so much classier than the usual bing-bong or ‘Your attention please’
Though they haven’t gone quite as far as DB and developed their own fragrance.
