I couldn’t find a definitive answer but this FAQ from New York state contains all kinds of fun potential requirements.
Might not be able to leave the state. Something about needing a certificate of relief to be able to hold public office. Interesting stuff. IANAL so hopefully knowledgeable people can comment.
(seems like thoughtful citizenship these days requires a thorough knowledge of constitutional law, familiarity with criminal law of several states, a psychology degree, experience as a community organizer, a more than passing interest in vexology, eating enough fruits and vegetables. It’s a lot.)
