Tom the Dancing Bug: Our Nation's Leaders Analyze the Data on USA's Gun Violence

Oh yeah, I chose that one because it was beautiful. Google Image search also offered Cerakoted red, white, and blue “black” rifles - but they were just ugly. Kind of like those colorized quarters sold on late night TV.

the cynic’s take is that it’s to prevent a “socialist” nightmare not an authoritarian one.

it’s about trying to stop a government which might undermine white conservative values. it’s about obama and billary coming to take your guns. it’s about draining the washington swamp of liberals, environmentalists, and “abortionists”. it’s about fema camps and crisis actors. the deep state.

real authoritarianism? folks on the right seem fine with that.

It seems not so much cynical as simply acknowledging something that was always just an undisclosed qualifier; they’re probably happy to admit it, it just never occurred to them that they needed to spell it out. That is their definition of “freedom” (or lack thereof).

I don’t think this at all.

Which is what I was hoping to convey when I wrote that the comic is not about the data but about the spin. In this case, politicians fabricating a story that is unsupported by the data.
It does not matter to the cartoon if the data is real and it could be argued that it could even be counterproductive because then people who argue in bad faith would be able to focus on the data as a distraction while very purposefully missing the point.

It seems to me very artful of Mr. Bolling to have made his cartoon as is. I like it.

I really hate that I just don’t have the strength right now to be able to express myself in writing clearly enough, hopefully it’s a little clearer that I did not intend to imply anything beyond what I wrote. Not my style.
