One of the things I found interesting when I visited Finland in the '80s was that they’d take something like “optical lens specialist” and Finlandize it by making it one long word.
France on the other hand insists on making up new words of its own rather than adopting new words for new technology that the rest of the world has adopted.
You see borrowing in Arabic for technological items like cameras (“camera”) but not adjectives like “cool .” You also notably see it in “Chubb!” which is smuooshing together of the English “shut up!” It has the same effect.
I don’t currently own a vehicle but back when i was able to drive i saw people jogging at night in all black clothes, walking by the side of the road and even once jaywalking with dark or black clothes. Thejaywalking one, i was lucky to spot the person about a block early because the street they were on had poor lighting (the person was near a crosswalk too that they decided not to use).
