Exactly. In fact, the WSJ published an article in 2015 saying the same thing. Jeez. Com’n people. use your head. Don’t you remember this when you were a kid on TV? The Emergency Broadcast System interrupts your programming for a test.
Literally this is the only reason he wanted to be President. So he could tweet everyone and you have to see it.
Oh how I wish that were all there is to it!
(OTOH, I fully believe the numerous reports that he didn’t actually even want to be president.)
I’d be okay with an alert every day at one minute to midnight, warning everyone about climate change.
Shit, now I have to throw away my phone. Ugggh.
Tainted.
It just went off on my phone, it was pretty annoying. Scared the crap out of a co-worker… and then a few seconds later her phone went off.
Haha! Right in the middle an all hands meeting at work. Not quite as disruptive as I expected. Amber alerts seem to bounce around a room for minutes, that was one unified buzz and then done.
My phone is turned off; but I heard a coworker’s phone receive it.
Fairly obnoxious it was, As long as it’s used as often as the old presidential alert that the Emergency Broadcasting System had we’ll be set.
Of course, the Emergency Broadcast presidential alert was never used.
Completely distracted me from my Pokémon Go. Now, I’m lost in the wilderness.
My phone’s off.
Was there a text message too?
No, just a blinding flash, then nothing.
I did not get a notification. OMG WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!?!?
Ah, thanks.
So glad I left my phone off!
You were not chosen. I’m unsure if this is a good or bad thing.
Mine went off…something about Marshall law…I just ignored it, like most of what dRumph says.
You are not the one.
I’m still waiting on my message. I just tried texting my grandmother to warn her, but it didn’t go through. Needless to say there’s some congestion when sending 200 million texts all at once!
The message lurks until the phone is back on (tested), which makes sense if your phone lost power, you charged it some and powered up again. But I’d think there is some timeout / ttl that means that if you the phone if turned off for a week, the urgency of the message may no longer apply.
