Tic-tac-toe. Still my favorite use of the pound sign.
And I still like “fetch” instead of “at”, “bang” instead of “exclamation point”, and “pipe” instead of “vertical slash”.
Now get off my lawn for real.

Things may have common and academic names.
When I attended school, before writing was invented, # was the symbol for pounds (weight)*, not currency.
*Okay, mass, you pedants.
Pound is a measure of weight, not mass,
Just as the weight of a one kilogram mass in earth’s gravitational field is 9.8 newtons or so, the weight of a 1 slug mass is about 32 pounds.
Techhnically a slug is defined as the mass that is accelerated by 1 ft/sec/sec when a force of one pound is exerted on it, while a newton is defined as the force required to accelerate a one kilogram mass by 1 meter/sec/sec.
This isn’t a banana

I would rather have $s at my door than #ing at my door. Wouldn’t you?
