I hate all that veneration for the noble “pioneers” and such that I run into sometimes. They were fucking thieves and murderers.

FWIW, I was impressed with how well “The English” (6-part mini series on Amazon Prime) handled the complexity of that time period in the western territories, both with regard to the many Native tribes and the immigrating European-heritage settler groups. They packed a lot into a relatively short screen-time.
