The racists hate ULEZ because it is an issue that they can attack Sadiq Khan over, although it was originally planned by Boris Johnson when he was mayor of London.
The stupid arrogance that their little Facebook group would never be discovered is the perfect complement to their bigotry. It should be fun watching the Tories scuttle like roaches to disavow it.
They won’t even bother. They’ll just keep going on about Angela Rayner and the media will fall for it.
For all the visible diversity of the Tory party, they still are conservatives, after all.
They don’t have genuine diversity, just a handful of obscenely wealthy ladder-pullers. The tories of color are race and/or gender traitors, the self-loathing children/decendants of immigrants or immigrants themselves, and white supremist [not a tyop] nazis to boot.
suella/cruella braverman, who immigrated to the UK with her family (or those who hatched her, anyway), is the one who suggested the repulsively racist Rwanda plan.
Boot 'em out!
They don’t hate the ULEZ zone because it’s surveillance, they hate it because it’s “climate woke” (ie it’s an attempt to lower air pollution).
The one that confuses me is UK based right wingers complaining about ‘15 minute cities’…which have existed in the UK pretty much since we first had cities. There can’t be many urban areas in the UK that are more than fifteen minutes walk from a pub (except Bournville).
They’ve embraced conspiracy theories.
An offshoot of the equally stupid “Agenda 21” and “Great Reset” conspiracy theories. Ultimately in service to their lords and masters in the fossil fuel industry, which hates the concept for obvious reasons.
And of course, most of the Tory leaders and functionaries keep a residence in a walkable 15-minute city, which is somewhat of a luxury due to the high housing costs in desirable and well-run urban areas. Another reason they rail against the concept is because they don’t want the hoi polloi to know how pleasant, healthy and cost-effective it is to live a car-free lifestyle.
