This GPOY isn’t even OT, b/c he was a genuine unicorn allright.
L: Ali Kaczar AKA Ollie. 15.1 H 1980-something, 50%+ Egyptian Arabian chestnut gelding, with crescent moon star & short white socks behind. He always played with his tongue for a few minutes after his bridle was removed. He was a spicy boy, and given his sensitive tongue, I knew he’d enjoy “ginger, when it is hot i’ the mouth,” as The Bard had it. He loved ginger snaps (only the kind that aren’t v sweet), and the strong ginger beer I once brought him.
R: MerelyGifted. 15.1 H 1966 strawberry mare, who certainly couldn’t easily trace her pedigree back to the 1830s or earlier.
Mid to late 90s.

He was a school horse, and we only saw each other on weekends, but we pair of weirdos bonded big time. I miss him.
ETA: That little curled up sign on Ollie’s stall door had his name on, and “Always put chain over Oliie’s nose.” This refers to the lead ropes normally used when horses are wearing their halters/headcollars 'steada bridles. Some have chains to put over the noses of rude and crazy ones; Ollie was frequently the latter and occasionally the former. You see 'em on tv whenever racehorses are being led around. Their use requires much discretion with a gentle hand, unless of course yr being dragged into the next county (which was far more likely when he was ridden XD ).
