I love that photo of the mice, it looks so epic, like frodo and gollum fighting over the one ring. That the victor will be left with only a few crumbs adds a poignant futility to it.
The rat pic definitely hits those deep, dark notes.
Happy Valentine’s Day… and a shoutout to all… especially those who are owned by Siamese kitties.
Ours are pretty darned quiet, but we love them to pieces anyway.
“Oh noos! Don’t worry, human, we’ll save you from the water!”
Alternately… ‘ARE YOU INSANE. THAT IS WATER. WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!!!’
In college I was a thrall to a cat who’d meow outside the shower. Of course he’d also crawl under the covers and wrap himself around my leg at night. The first month after getting him from the shelter he’d meow his whiskers off if either I or my then SO wouldn’t let him be in the room with us.
We went to the shelter to adopt another cat, but that little guy was all “whatever” and Odie was working harder than any cat I’d ever seen to get adopted. So of course we adopted both of them and Odie bugged his adopted brother the entire three hour car ride home. Hence his namesake.
The burmese that came along with MrsTobinL would crawl under the covers with us. He would make a show of preferring her at bedtime then snuggle up with me after we were asleep cause I was warmer.
The evil thing he did was use me to warm his paws after making his 3 am patrol of the house. He would snuggle up against the mrs and then stretch out his cold feet on my torso.
Cats are an intriguingly chaotic force. We have one right now who is completely fearless of the 90lb German Shepherd.
In fact, he stalks the dog.
A couple weeks ago he followed the dog along the banisters and sideboards from above, and dropped on the dog, biting him so bad we had to take him to get stitches. The dog had no idea what was happening until it was too late.
Y so smol!
Aw. I would have helped the cat down.
