I was lucky enough to finally get tenure this semester and now I kind of feel obligated to cling on to this job until my dying breath.
Well, that sucks.
Fingers crossed that something will turn up timely.
You should! I know you worked hard to get there!
Congratulations!
It sucks.
Possible silverish lining: time to write a book?
Yeah, there is that route, which later could open up other avenues (including even another academic job). I’m think of combining my dissertation work with another idea that’s been floating around the back of my brain for a grand unified theory of sorts…
Hari Seldon, is that you?
Isaac Asimov “Foundation” develops a technique for analysing history to predict future events. Grand Unified Theory of History.
I know, it was a reach, but my mind works in weird ways, and is filled with pretty useless trivia.
Thanks! It would be even nicer if I’d managed to get tenure in a city where it was possible to buy a home on an educator’s salary, but I guess we can’t have everything.
