“Daughter was with grandma for a month” so you don’t. You hide the kitten in the box for a couple minutes while the kid comes in for her “welcome home” present.

Doesn’t work on my cat, last time the vet tried that it took 3 people to hold him down to get him to calm down. I felt so bad about that, now i suggest the vet sedate him if they need to do anything for both of their safety. When it comes to other people he does get kinda sassy but he’s mostly ok.
