"Where are the kittens?" Mama cat needs a break, so she stashes kitties in unusual "playpen" (video)
What a clever - and strong, powerful girl!
ETA: But, yeah - they better check the damn washer every time before adding more stuff!
Finally a valid use case for buying a top loading washer!
Best regards from Europe
The washing machine is not a safe place for the kittens. I want to share a sad story. When I was a child, I had a white kitten that my father had given me. One day, my father’s wife at the time, who wasn’t the best homemaker, grabbed the laundry out of the basket without any examination and stuffed it into our all-in-one washer/dryer. The poor kitten was washed, spun, and dried and didn’t survive. My father managed to find another white kitten to replace her, and the truth wasn’t revealed to me until years later when I was an adult. I’m still saddened about the fate of that poor kitten.

has reappeared in her old
haunts with a
flock of kittens

yesterday
the life of a female
artist is continually
hampered what in hell
have i done to deserve
all these kittens
i look back on my life
and it seems to me to be
just one damned kitten
after another
.

.
archy i am full of mother love
my kindness has always
been my curse
a tender heart is the cross i bear
self sacrifice always and forever
is my motto damn them
i will make a home
for the sweet innocent
little things
unless of course providence
in his wisdom should remove
them they are living
just now in an abandoned
garbage can just behind
a made over stable in greenwich
village and if it rained
into the can before i could
get back and rescue them
i am afraid the little
dears might drown
it makes me shudder just
to think of it…
-.-Don Marquis, Mehitabel and her kittens
Time to find a better place for the kittens. Ideally, a room with a baby gate or at least a large box with high sides that is partially covered.
Mama cat needs a safe place to stow the kits while she gets a break. They look old enough to scramble out of that shallow box.
Love that Herriman illustrated Marquis’ archy and mehitabel, too
So much this. We gave our mama kitties increasingly larger, taller boxes for them and their babies, and eventually a laundry basket. Once the kittens could escape that, they were big enough to safely explore the house
I was familiar with both Krazy Kat and archie, but I never knew they had the same illustrator until your reply above. Now that I know, the similarity in style is obvious.
