Waiting For Assange: A Tragicomedy Tweet Thread

Yah, I’m a dog guy, coz a dog is like a best friend who won’t occasionally drop you for a new girlfriend or expect you to move a couch at the drop of a hat. I actively dislike cats and generally subscribe to the “there aren’t enough sacks and canals” attitude toward them.

That said, if we could let the cat have the room and neuter Assange and leave his shitty neo-libertarian-interventionist ass in a kill-shelter that’d be wicked.

Dude could learn a thing or two about civil disobedience from Chelsea Manning.

Even so, obligatory re-reminder (The Intercept).

You misspelled accused rapist and low-key white supremacist. And I take neither side. When presented with two evils, one is not obliged to chose either one.

You know, even without the epic tweet and @xeni on-target take, Assange’s “adventures” could be mistaken for Theater of the Absurd.

My pet theory is Assange posts these claims himself to force the police to waste resources staking out the embassy more intensely. (While they obviously have someone watching if they suspect he’s going to rabbit I’d bet they ramp up the monitoring)

There’s been multiple false starts like this and the monitoring itself costs a lot

One day he’ll pull a McAfee and sneak out in a disguise or a bag or something and run for it.

I am sure he’d like to but where’s he going to go? The USA?

Good idea. I’ll cheer when he’s in custody.

“I wish the Goblin King would take you away, right now!”

Later, a top official said while Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno was angered by the apparent hacking of his personal communications, he denied WikiLeaks’ claim and said no decision had been taken to expel Assange from the embassy. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to discuss the matter.

On Tuesday, Moreno blamed WikiLeaks for recent allegations of offshore corruption that appeared in local media outlets and the publication of family photos to social media.

Moreno accused WikiLeaks of intercepting phone calls and private conversations as well as “photos of my bedroom, what I eat, and how my wife and daughters and friends dance.”

Assange, who was granted Ecuadorian citizenship last year in an apparent effort to designate him a diplomat and allow him to go to Russia, sued Ecuador for violating his rights as an Ecuadorian.

I think he just needs the attention. IMHO, the best course of action – and the worst punishment one could inflict on Assange – would be to get rid of all the news crews and police and just shove him out the door into the drizzling rain at 4am with nobody at all there to watch.

So, we’re never going to get to Endgame, are we?
