Was Hitler "inspired" by American racism, and if so, to what degree

Hitler specifically calls out America as an inspiration in Mein Kampf .

As a side note, this German Wikipedia article (it is not so clear in the English version) is rather specific about Hitler coming to hold these views only a few years after the publication of “Mein Kampf”.

There’s a good article up on Wikipedia that sums up the situation in the US (and the horrifying thing is how “progressive” it was considered to be when it was fashionable).

And, of course, echoes of this clusterfuck continue on to this day.
