Unless he spent his younger years abroad as a mercenary, not very likely.
He was 6 years old when WW II (in which Ireland was neutral) started.
Ireland joined the UN in 1958 (i.e. after Korea) and has sent troops on various UN peacekeeping missions since then, but unless he was in the Congo in the early 1960ies, not much opportunity for wartime action.

I wouldn’t put it past him to have been in a fair share of pub brawls, though.
